Jan 2016 update** I have re-opened the comments on this post and added some additional websites that can earn bloggers money.
So, you're a relatively new blogger and you see all the big bloggers with their shiny badges on their homepage and your first instinct is "I want one too!". It's only natural however, before you sign up for bloglovin' or any other site be aware of the negative implications it might have on your website! Big sites like these prey on uninformed bloggers.
1. BlogLovin Steals Your Traffic
I know that sounds a bit off the wall but they do. If you click on a link promoting another blogger's BlogLovin page it is directed to the BlogLovin website and it also has their URL in the address bar. If you're a blogger you know that your traffic is everything. If you're looking to get brands to sponsor you, the first thing they ask is how many hits does your site get a month? If your clicks are going to the BlogLovin site, you're losing out on page views and possibly huge opportunities!
The Newlywed Notebook decided to do an experiment to see if she was getting her views from BlogLovin and she wasn't! To see her post, click the picture.
2. BlogLovin is stealing your content
There are horror stories of bloggers who found that their blogs were already on BlogLovin without their permission. BlogLovin is a RSS feed site so any thing you post on your RSS feed can easily be snatched by them and you won't get paid or credit for someone reading your blog!!
3. BlogLovin is shushing your brand identity
If you're a spectacular writer, or superb make up artist, promoting your BlogLovin link is only making them a household name not you! Take control of your brand. Make sure you promote your website or blog link, if they're on BlogLovin they can follow you but you should never promote their brand more than yours! You take a lot of time perfecting your website and graphics for your blog, let people see it!
Below is a screenshot of Vixella Beauty which was retweeted on my twitter timeline, I had to click twice to get to this page. The first click brought me to her blog lovin' profile. The second click brought me here. Just to see one blog post from Vixella Beauty, I had to give bloglovin' TWO clicks. Which could have been her traffic. I was mortified when I clicked the link to find this obnoxious BlogLovin frame and anything I clicked kept bloglovin in the URL address.
4. Join a site that can offer you real opportunities & do your research
Before I sign up for a site, I do a quick google search to see if anyone has had any comments or if the honest reviews were suffocated. There are people who post about blog lovin but you'll never find it on the first page of google. I joined IFB when I first started blogging and they have been an invaluable resource to my blogging career. I have also been a member of Sverve for 2 years, I have gotten paid for sponsored posts and tweets. When I decided to close my first blog, I was able to delete it from them with no problem and they never stored my posts. I get all the hits to my website and no where else. You could also join Izea or Cooperatize.
I lived life pain free. As a young woman my only ailments were anemia, carpal tunnel(computer head) and a cyst on my ovaries that caused occasional but bearable pain. That is until I had Sai. If you've been reading my blogs then you would know my story. If you're new here, I'll reiterate. Sai decided to stay in 3 weeks extra. I was induced for approximately 50 hours or so and after the pain totally tore me down, I had an epidural which had to be administered twice and then an emergency c-section 6 hours later. During my healing period, I noticed an extremely jarring back pain in addition to other things like anxiety and mommy brain. My practitioner told me it was normal and not to be alarmed unless I saw early signs of an infection in my c-section area. Skip forward to almost two years later and I still have severe back pain. I can't sleep without a full body pillow and my back aches throughout the day.
I love this bag. I don't usually swoon over stuff and if I do, it goes under the swooning tab. But I fell head over heels for all the beautiful detailing. It's also versatile as you can rock with the chain or a clutch. My first extra $2100 will definitely go to this purse <3.
Found out which NO turned into a YES when I used it on my stainless steel fridge!
As promised, here is the full product list and where to buy!
During the course of 10 months, my body had done remarkable things. Freaky, but absolutely remarkable. My hips were stretched to capacity, my belly met my knees when I sat down and for 10 months I had come to terms with the fact that another human was inhabiting my body. The most beautiful thing about pregnancy was not having to deal with that wicked witch that appears monthly. What I was not prepared for however, was the havoc pregnancy would wreak on my vagina post partum.
Last week Thursday, I quit my freelance job. Since then, I have applied for a job at Geico but I decided to see if I could do writing from home full-time. I have had tons of dreams for the past few months -- stuff I could envision myself doing. I know what I like, what I enjoy, but for some reason, I just can't seem to catch a break of catching a job in any of those fields. I believe that the universe is telling me something. It also doesn't help that I'm surrounded by mentally enslaved people who believe that a job is the end of life. I've been deterred from a number of my dreams and I don't feel like I have a good team in my corner. I have been reading this book called the Success Principles and the first 200 pages of the book I really despised because of the approach that it took. In short, it basically tells you to blame yourself for everything that happens in your life. If the job market is bad, it doesn't concern you. You are more than what happens outside of you. As I continued to read the book, I slowly understood why it makes you responsible for your life. Why you need to take control. A part of the book talks about the company you keep and why your company is imperative to your success. For the last 3 months, I haven't been surrounded by the most positive people. I haven't been surrounded by people who are doing substantial things or exude positive reinforcements my way. I've been spilling my ideas and dreams to people who look at me dumb founded. I've said things and the response was silent. I'm angry because I don't have support. TBC..
There have been murmurs amongst about men in regards to a woman's role in today's household. When my grandmother was a young, chipper, single woman with four kids, she worked full time as a receptionist at Medgar Evers. She came home in enough time to cook for the kids. When she married her second husband, she became a full-time stay at home mom and care taker. Her house was always pristine, her kids ate breakfast at home and took lunch to school. Her husband took care of the house financially and her role was to hold down the home.
