On Sunday, I ventured downtown Brooklyn with the intentions of having unlimited brunch fare at Verde on Smith. However, my plans were quickly thwarted due to an incident that may have been racially motivated. (More likely than not in my humble opinion) Our group of 6 found ourselves (due to my prying ears) at Jolie restaurant which welcomed people from all walks of life (as it should be). We tried some Escargot of which I only know from Neopets and I had a delicious lobster and egg dish of which I'm almost 100% sure it was Langostino. Would Escargot be considered meat? If so, I definitely cheated on my Pescatarian diet.
As for the food, we all agreed that the eggs were delicious, the Mexican pancakes are a MUST HAVE but you can leave the steak. It wasn't made to anyone's liking and the sauce didn't compliment the eggs on the dish.
The Bloody Mary was quite possibly one of the best Bloody Marys I have ever had. It had a delicious chipotle salted rim which was divine. Although mimosas weren't unlimited, they were decently priced at $6 a piece. We agreed that the Hibiscus mimosa was the best one.
A few important things to note
1. They consider toddlers a part 'of the party to charge that obnoxious gratuity.
2. They only take Amex or cash. Nothing in between so come prepared.
3. They have a lack of servers so don't get upset if they seat you quickly and take a century to bring out your order. It's not their fault.
4. Always get the eggs.
This spot is great for a last minute brunch or if you're in the area. Service was slow but the waiters were attentive as they could be and the food was filling. I wouldn't recommend Jolie for large groups. #happybrunching
