Before I start getting to the good stuff about this restaurant, I have to let you all know that Tosca Cafe is in the THE BRONX. Yes, the Bronx! Any New Yorker knows that the Bronx is foreign territory. You remember the Lion King where Mufasa told Simba that the dark area was off limits? That hunty, is the Bronx.
Anyway, we went to Tosca Cafe for my best friend Shanee's birthday. (She was also with me for the Miti Miti excursion that we had. You can read about that here) It was a party of 10-14 people or so. We were sat promptly and left in a bit of confusion as our waitress didn't come to us and take a drink or food order. After watching other people, we realized it was a buffet kind of thing and our waitress took our drink order. The buffet area was a little ways from our table and involved going through small places, tip toeing in our high heels and then after passing the bar, you are in food heaven. Although it was a brunch they had an array of other things to eat besides breakfast food and a number of desert items, if you're in to that. My favorite things on the menu were the home fries, steak, omelette station, and the pizza. The bread with pesto on it was quite delicious as well.
As for the drinks, you have the options of having a Bellini, Champagne, Bloody Mary or Mimosa. The Bellini was more like peach syrup instead of peach juice and I'm the kind of person that gets to the point so I ordered Champagne for the entirety of our brunch.
All in all, the ambiance was beautiful. It's a wonderful restaurant. I just wished a few things,
1. that the buffet wasn't so far
2. that the buffet area wasn't so dimly lit
3. our waitress was more thorough in explaining the process since it was our first time there.
4. that the buffet wasn't so damn far
Other than that for $29.95 per person with unlimited drinks, it was definitely worth it. So I will be back.
Side note: do you see me though? I'm out here! If you like my shoes you can cop them from Lulu's or if you're in Brooklyn you can get them from Dr. Jays. If you love my dress, it's by Mad Rag and I bought it from the $10 spot.
