This stuff is absolutely amazing. You need this for your hair whether you're relaxed or natural!
As many of you that follow my blog know, I took a leap 4 years ago and went Britney. For years I made the decision to perm my hair because it was programmed in me from a young girl to do so. We are always taught that our beauty is in our hair and being black, your hair is not viewed as beautiful because it is not naturally straight. After losing my grandfather, my hair fell out due to stress. Two years later I was tired of being a slave to the creamy crack so I let it grow out for about 6 months and then did my first BC.
To be completely honest, I looked like Dora. A little light skin, black girl version of Dora with blunt bangs and hair that barely touched the bottom of my ears. I didn't take any pictures until my hair grew to a decent length. Being natural for four years, you would think I have everything down pat but I don’t. Every now and then I receive a product that amazes and I wonder “how did I ever live without this?”
Hairette Kokum and Marula oil blend is just that. A slice of heaven. It meshes well with my hair regimen (OGX co-washing, detangling) , does not make my hair oily and smells amazing. My wash and go’s never look like Tanya Wright’s (owner of Hairette, co-star in Orange is the New Black and plenty of other shows) however when I used the oil after my co-wash my coils looked completely re-newed.
There are so many commercial brands trying to capitalize off of our newly found confidence in ourselves as a community and it’s extremely difficult to find products that actually work, that don’t contain sulfate and other harsh chemicals. Hairette is an all natural line and it doesn’t get better than that. Besides the fact that the line is natural, you can look to their customers as inspiration by surfing the #hairiette hashtag for beautiful images of curly girls keeping it real! Using the oil, my wash and go lasted for about 8 days starting with a braid out, twist out and throwing it up in a few buns. I have crazy shrinkage but my bantu knot out was on stretched hair! Below are some of the looks I had.
